DR. MARC UNGER
SENIOR PASTOR
I have been in Christian ministry since 1983. Only by God’s grace, I hold a Bachelor of Theology in Pastoral Leadership, Master of Theology in Christian Counseling, Doctor of Divinity, and Doctor of Theology in Christian Counseling. I am also a graduate of the Billy Graham School of Evangelism. It is my great privilege to have been called by God and the congregation of First Baptist Church of Madera in 2017.
One night, alone at home in Hutchinson, KS, in late October of 1982, I prayed that God would take my life. I had no idea that when “the lightning did not strike,” I would confess my sins, repent of them and ask Jesus Christ to direct my every step. He put me into Christian ministry and I have been married to Lynda for over 39 years. We have five children and nine grandchildren.
Ministry Hallmark – The Bible: No Excuses! No Apologies! “God is not not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance” in Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:9, NASB). Why not you? Why not today?
Life verse: “For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for I am under compulsion; for woe is me if I do not preach the gospel” (1 Corinthians 9:16, NASB).

JOE MARTINEZ
DEACON
I have always gone to church. I remember my grandfather taking us to church on Kennedy Road. He would go five to eight miles out of the way just to pick us up. This led me to become a Christian in the 1970’s (the exact year escapes me).
It is my passion to bring other people to Jesus Christ. I would like to have them see how wonderful it is to live in Him and see Him work in their lives and in the lives of their families.
God makes the same invitation I feel he would want us to make to everyone who has yet to trust in Jesus: “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me” (Rev 3:20, NASB).

LYNDA UNGER
CHILDREN’S CHURCH DIRECTOR
I grew up unchurched, unbelieving, but curious. However, after graduating from high school and “on my own,” I chose a godless lifestyle. This continued until age 31 at which time the gospel of Jesus Christ was simply explained to me. I repented of my sins and placed my trust in Jesus Christ as my Lord. I married a godly Christian man who is now the pastor of this church. I am grateful to be a member of the family of God.
My favorite Bible verse is “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life“ (John 3:16). This is the only Bible verse I ever learned, at about age six, until I became a Christian.
I want to see children come to faith in Jesus Christ, learn what the Bible says and how to live it. I also have a goal of training others to teach children and minister to them.
