DOCTRINAL STATEMENT
What We Believe
First Baptist Church of Madera is committed to the historic orthodoxy of the Christian faith. We are a doctrinally conservative, non-charismatic/non-Pentecostal, Southern Baptist church.
We believe in the full and final authority of the Bible
(Ex 24:4; II Sam 23:1-3; Prov 30:5a; II Tim 3:16-17; II Pet 1:20-21).
We believe in the doctrine of the Trinity
(Isa 48:16; Matt 3:16-17; 28:19; Rev 4:5; 5:6-7).
We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ
(John 8:24; 58-59; 10:30; Titus 2:13),
And the sacrificial nature of Jesus Christ’s life, death and resurrection
(Rom 5:8; I Cor 15:1-8; II Cor 5:21; Phil 2:5-8; Heb 10:10).
We believe in the gospel of salvation by grace through penitent faith in Christ alone
(Mark 1:15; Acts 11:18; Eph 2:8-9; Rom 10:9-11, 13).
We believe in the final end state of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved to the resurrection of life and they that are lost to the judgement of damnation
(Dan 12:2-3; John 5:24; I Cor 15:51-52; 1 Thess 4:15-17; Luke 16:23-26; Rev 20:11-15; Rev 21:3-8).
We believe that our faith affirms the dignity of all human life–from the moment of conception until natural death: the unborn, the infirm and the aged
(Gen 2:7, Ps 51:5; 139:13-16).
And the need of every person to experience forgiveness of sin through a new birth into the family of God
(Eccl 7:20; John 3:3; Rom 6:23).
We believe that human sexuality is designed for physical expression only in the bonds of marriage between a biological man and a biological woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime
(Gen 2:24; Matt 19:6; I Cor 7:2).
Additional exposition of Christian teaching shall be the responsibility of the Senior Pastor in accordance with Holy Scripture
(Ezra 7:10; Neh 8:8; Jer 3:15; Eph 4:11-13).
